The South Charlotte Thunder JV won the NCHEAC state championship in Greensboro, NC with victories over the North Wake Storm and the South Wake Sabres.
In the semifinal game, the Thunder calmed the North Wake Storm by a score of 70-46. The Thunder had an impressive 26-4 third quarter that propeled them to a 53-23 lead going into the fourth quarter. Ezekiel Ross led the Thunder in scoring with 17 points. London Johnson and Elijah Gray added 11 points each. Jeremiah Abbott contributed 8 points, and Jahaan Johnson finished with 7 points. Chris Bacon-Jackson had 5 points and 8 rebounds.
In the championship game, the Thunder JV defeated the South Wake Sabres by a score of 71-60. Elijah Gray led all scorers with 24 points. He also contributed 7 rebounds. London Johnson scored 19 points while Chris Bacon-Jackson finished with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals. Jahaan Johnson added 9 points.
Elijah Gray was the NCHEAC state tournament MVP. London Johnson and Chris Bacon-Jackson made the all-tournament team.
It was an exicing finish to the season for the South Charlotte Thunder JV who finished the year with a 21-4 record. The Thunder JV were the NCHEAC West Region-Metro regular season conference champions (undefeated in the conference), the NCHEAC West Regional tournament champions, and the NCHEAC state champions.
